XP Home SP2 and Bad Drive Letter

    Can enyone tell me. :D
    Can I do enything to get the Drive letters back to C:-(Harddrive)/D:-(Harddrive)/E:-(CD-RW)/F:-(CD-DVD)

    they are now C:-(Storage)/D:-(CD-RW)/E:-(CD-DVD)/F:-(System) :eek:

    I have tryed the Reallocation using Regedit eather I did it wrong or there instructions where bad. :confused:
    result was a Freeze and I had to repair System in Registry...... :(

    I can't get how to fix this problem? :eek:

    Well, the best thing to do is simply leave it. Swapping drive letters around just makes windows upset and having them like they are now has no downside besides from being a little diffrent then you're used to.

    If you must change them then you can simply do it from disk management. right click "my computer" go to "manage" and then under storage "disk management". From here you can right click any partition it shows and select "change drive letters and path". Of course you can't change to a drive letter that is in use. So you'll have to assign something to an unused drive letter first in order to free up the ones you want.

    I must warn you though, changing the system drives letter can cause serious issues. You can play with the other drive letters all you want and you should be fine. But I have no idea if you can actually change the system drives letter this way without breaking windows. I'm going to assume it won't let you, because it really shouldn't, but it might.
