    HELP!!!!

Since January, I have been wanting to kick my &*^%*#&$%@Q computer through the wall. I can't install any new software, or updates for existing software. It goes all the way up to "publishing product information" and then gacks with an "internal error 2932" and rolls back the installation. It won't even install Windows updates!

I have plenty of disk space
I am not trying to install from a flash card or a CD

I tried a system restore to go back to before this started happening, but 3 different restore points have failed as well. There must be SOMEONE in the 'verse that has dealt with this problem before... if you're that someone, please help a girl out!

Sorry Girl, you'll have to take your PC in for the registry to be repaired. Alternatively google the "error 2932" and you might find a fix there.

I agree, it will get rid of all the bugs. Just reformat during reinstall, MAKE BACK UP'S FIRST!!!

Did you get the PC to boot from the XP CD or did you try and reload XP by putting in the CD and installing with XP already started up?

Since you can't install stuff you won't be able to follow the procedures in the malware forum just yet. However you can still run windows, which is hopeful.

    So try this

    while it is still running

copy off data files and any drivers folders to somewhere safe.

Delete temp files, internet cache and empty recycle bin.

    run checkdisk

in an explorer window right click on the hard drive
    choose properties>tools
    choose check now
    tick automatically repair file system
    tick automatically repair sectors
    click start
If required click yes perform check at restart
    click Ok,OK
    restart

run system file checker - it may ask for your windows cd.

    start>run>typein
    cmd
    press return
    at the > prompt typein
    sfc /scannow
    press return
type exit to close command window

Copy the text between the lines
    ------------------------------------------------
    %SystemRoot%\system32\cmd.exe /c %windir%\system32\tasklist.exe /svc >"%USERPROFILE%"\Desktop\Tasklist.txt
    -----------------------------------------------

    then
    Start-Run
    type
    CMD
    hit enter

Now rt click and paste the above and hit enter

There will apear on your desktop a file Tasklist.txt

Post this file as a MG insert (preferable) or copy and paste it into a post.
