XP issues

Hey guys im new to this, i made a boo boo on my xp install, i wasnt paying attention when i installed the xp on 2 computers with only one key code. now my other pc requires me to put in a new keycode to finish installation. it prompts me to either call or go on line to aquire a new keycode. Is there a way around this or better yet, how can i fix this problem :major

 

Which PC is asking for a new keycode? The one you installed first or the other? Have either of them been on the internet to update?

The keycode is sent to Microsoft when you try to update and if a second computer tries to update with that code, that's when the code gets put on the pirate list. So unless you've tried updating both computers, there should be no problem with putting the correct code into the machine asking for it.

However, if you have 2 different versions of XP (such as Professional and Home or an upgrade version and a full version) they do require a key that matches the version. So, for example, if you install Professional on both machines instead of Home on one, you can't use the Pro keycode on one and the Home keycode on the other. As far as I know, you'll need to either buy another licence or install the correct version of XP unless you ring Microsoft and tell them what's happened, give them whatever proof they ask for and get a new code.

 

Do you have two licenses, one for each computer?
