    Hi there,

I have been having problems with my XP for some months and its finally stopped working, basically to start with it would run for about 2-4 hours and shut down what ever i was doing and reported and error, which was to do with an external hard drive so i thought so i fixed that problem. Then i was having issues with TS2 running i couldn't visit a community lot without it crashing and had to do a re-boot, so then i assumed it was my game, and found on a local TS2 forum no-one else had these issues since installing the recent expansion, then my computer got to the point of taking hours and im talking like 5 hours to get from the "Windows is starting up" page to my actual desktop loading. So i take it to a computer shop and they thought i needed a new hard drive, so i went to have a new hard drive fitted and the problem still occured, now the engineer gave me my pc back with my old hard drive in as he couldn't fix it as it wasn't the hard drive with the problem, so i would switch my pc on and give it the time to strat up and now well it makes a noise like im being invaded by wasps and bumble bee's and just wont start up it just stays at the Windows is starting up page and its been saying that for about 24 hours now and still hasnt loaded, can anyone help, im currently using my partners pc and im lost without mine, im really hoping someone can help me.

Sorry this is very long i just wanted to explain everything best i could i look forward to hearing your suggestions. Oh and i always start my pc up in safe mode.

    Many Thanks :confused

Have you tried a new power supply? The buzzing might be the fan on the power supply.
Open the case up, turn it on and see where the buzzing is coming from. Hold an empty paper towel holder to your ear and move it around until you figure out what is buzzing. Don't touch anything inside the case with your hands. You don't want to zap something with static electricity.

hello KimIsMe. On a side track, I play the Sims2 myself, and my game speed increased after going from 526M RAM up ti 1G RAM. How much are you running? What CPU speed?

    Hi,
Thankyou for the feedback, i have now sorted my computer, i removed my media drive, and everthing is back to normal, i have no invasions and everything runs much quicker, so the engineer was right it was a bum hard-drive but he was trying to fix the wrong hard-drive lol. Again thankyou very much i can get back to TS2 now :-D and look at getting a new media drive.....
