Im having a couple of issues with XP...I received a computer from a friend who decided to just give it to me due to upgrading. So now I have (2) computers to play with. Well, I figured since he just gave it to me, I may encounter some problems with the software or hardware. Suprisingly, I have only encountered (2) problems.

1.) When clicking on the "Add/Remove Programs" link, a window pops up but nothing loads.

2.)Similar problem as the first, but its for the "User Account Types" link. Window comes up, but nothing loads.

Could this be a registry problem?

The account you are using to access these links is it restricted??? If you have the password log in as administrator and try them again. Hope that helps

I am attempting the links while using the primary/admin user log in.
    Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Go to "Event Viewer" and check for error messages there, or try to access in "Safe Mode" remember I have not had this problem so am just offering some possible suggestions Good Luck

Thanks, I fully appreciate your suggestions.
I went to the "Event Viewer" but I did not see anything related. Tried to access the link through "Safe Mode", same result.

Try Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Component Services and see if the links are in the "Automatic" mode

I did as suggested...what seemed related to me was "Windows Installer" and "Application Management". Both were in "Manual" status and there was no difference in the links when selecting "Start". I was not able to figure out how to change the status to "Automatic" on either.

Thanks again for the suggestions and your time :)

There in "Manual" on mine as well and work so that does not appear to be your problem. However double Left click on "Application Management" in Component Services and another window with options will appear click on the "Log On" option and you should see "Profile1" but you may also see another. Post back, PS were it says "Manual" if you click the down arrow you should see "Automatic" and "Disable" as options, just info do not change. I am hoping someone see this thread that has had this problem, because I am just guessing like yourself???:)
