XP login problem

OK- this PC has some login wierdness. It was set up like the old school Win2000 login with the user name and password in it's own window. So I changed that but when I did, I couldn't log in. Right before the Welcome screen would come up, you'd see a flash of the 'old school' login window and an error that said "unable to log in". This is because the PC is set up with Administrator as the default log in account, but the main user is called 'Owner'. So when you XP loads up, it defaults to 'Administrator', and not to 'Owner'. When logging in using the old school method, you'd erase 'Administrator' and type in 'Owner' as the user. There's no password for 'Owner', and that's the account that is always used. So how do I get it to default to 'Owner'???

 

So, I figured I'd log in as 'owner' and delete the Administrator account, but it isn't listed. This is probably because it's the account created at the factory (it's a Gateway PC). I did find a registry key that show the default user as being "Administrator". I think I'll change it, and see what happens. Hopefully, if it doesn't work, I'll still be able to login.

There's two entries of interest here: there's AltDefaultUser and DefaultUser. I simply swapped the user names and now it boots directly to the desktop of the user I wanted. I love it when I figure out a 'hack' like this! Yippeee!!!
