    Hello Everybody at MG.

This is my first post and I hope that I am doing this right.

I am having a problem with my new Computer.
Dell P4 2.66 Win XP Home
When starting up the computer. I get to the logon screen. It tells me to logon, but there arent any logon icons or anything to click except "turn off Computer".

I can get into set up and boot up when I start but i am not sure what or if i can do anything from there.
Dell support can only tell me to do a windows reinstall.
I must have installed a program that conflicted or changed my settings.
I am hopeing that some one can help.
    thanks.

Usually an account disappears from the Welcome Screen if it has become disabled or deleted.

You could try to boot in safemode and see if the welcome screen shows your account. If it doesn't then it should display the builtin Administrator Account.

You can use the Administrator account (has no password) to create a new account if the other has become deleted.

If the user-registry of your old account hasn't been deleted, then you can point the new account to use the old user-registry.

    ya, what he said ;)

Programs like TweakUI can also hide it, but without disabling it or deleting it. Make sure that one of those programs isn't hiding it.

    Thanks

Thank You Mr. Flea and Snake foot.

That is exactly what I did.I did get it working in safe mode( was not sure how to do that. I now know it is f8) but i am not sure how to point to the old user reg .
I just opened another admin account.
the files for the othere account are still there but, when i try to switch users it is like it does not exist.

I did end up trying a partial win reformat to fix any problem. Before I heard any responses. It didn't work.
a few things have changed but I think i have everything is working ok

I did install tweak ui earlier in the day. that may have been problem. I can't fink it right now though. it may have gotten deleted in the partial reformatting.

    thank you again

    :D

    Yes. It was tweak ui.
I found it and check the first account button.

I think I must have been trying to avoid the log on screen.

    I won't do that again. ;)

    thanks
