XP Logs out b4 it really logs in

Hiya poppits, Im a tad technologically retarded and I need some help

Problem is, the PC was loaded with spy/adware and trojans/worms spiders and snakes

I ran all of suggested scans and fixes mentioned at the How to: Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal thread. I was amazed and astounded at how riddled it was.

However, now I cant log onto XP Home ed. I enter password, it starts to load, then after a brief moment of veiwing the screensaver it proceeds to log me off and save my settings.

I can log into safe mode ok with the same user and password.

I have tried the fix as suggest by Lavasoft Knowledge Base Article 04060901
(fixing userinit.exe in registry)
and i have tried repairing xp installation but i still cant log in.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

As a temporary measure, can you log into safe mode, then create a new account, then log into that new account, through the normal means?

Yes I have created a new account, but it still wont let me log on with the new one either.

 

OK This is an idiot speaking here but wasn't there a worm about a year ago that caused this same kind of thing to happen?
