XP network problems

1. networked computers working fine
2. installed Internet Explorer 8 on computer 1-Internet Explorer does not work correctly
3. tried several times to uninstall/reinstall-tried system restore-nothing corrected the problem
4. finally reimaged drive using Acronis to an earlier date when everything worked
5. computer 1 works fine but some files cannot now be accessed from computer 2
6. some files can be accessed just as before-some cannot-obviously there is a connection and it works
7. both are XP computers with latest updates-linksys router connected to modem
8. have run network wizard on both computers several times-set to allow file access
9. sharing and permissions are set the same on the files that can be accessed and those that cannot-setup to allow access and changes
10. disabled Windows Firewall and set up Comodo firewall to allow network
11. files that cannot be accessed indicate that permission is denied

Frustrated and out of ideas. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

 

Try this - Take Ownership of File

 

remove the shares from both pc's. power down pc's completely (don't restart). boot up and create new shares with different share names.

Thanks for the ideas. I finally fixed the problem by adding "Everyone" as a user with all permissions on the Security tab for the individual files. Then all problems were resolved.
