xp new install missing familiar functions

Hello,
was wondering if someone had an idea on two hopefully small issues.

I have recently installed a fresh xp os and have found two functions that I have become familiar with not working.

1. - when I plug my digital camera in I hear the sound indicator that xp recognizes something new but I cannot see the camera on the 'removable drive' menu nor does the window automatically pop up asking me what I want to do, ie open files, save pictures, etc.

2. - very similar the the above is my cd burner. when I put a blank cd into the drive I am no longer asked via windows popup if I want to copy music to disk, open cd as a drive, etc

any suggestions?

It sounds to me like you just have to re-install the software associated with those functions. What music program did you have before? did you re-install the camera software when you switched your OS?
