XP npdates

My updates are stuck. When I shutdown I get a message that 6 updates are going to install. I get this message every time I shut down for the last 10 days.
When I check on the updates page I get a message the a few did not install. Hope to get some ideas on how to fix it.

Do you know what the updates are for ??

 

Try turning Off Automatic Updates, reboot then go to Microsoft Update.

control panel > Security Center > Automatic Updates link at bottom of window

Choose "Turn off Automatic Updates" > OK
Reboot
goto MS Update

Once updates are complete, go back and change to "Notify me but don't automatically download or install them" > OK

I tried what you advised and I got a BSOD. Couldn't boot, so I restored the machine and ended up with the same problem except that it is 2 updates now that refuse to install. I also used Macecraft's registry cleaner to clean the registry, but it did not help. I am still not able to update.
