XP on IDE Need to install two SATAII as Data Raid0

I have a fully functional XP and programs on an IDE. I need to install a pair of SATAII as Raid0 as DATA drives not bootable drives. MY Mobo is a Gigabyte GA-965G-DS3 which has a GSATA controller for raiding. It also has an ICH8 for nonraidable SATA. The manual has instructions to set up SATA as Raid0 and as a boot drive but not as a data drive. My attempts to raid0 sets up the Raid but fails to boot from my IDE boot drive. In fact this drive vanishes even from the BIOS.

Please help.

We are not alone in this problem kam .. if I find a solution I will of course get in touch, I have similar prob but in reverse to yours and have found others as well elsewhere

 

A Raid 0 is simply a Stripped Set without fault tolerace. Since you only need it for data storage and not the OS you just need to install them and have set it up in XP's Disk Management as a Stripped Set.

Shoulf I ignore the Hardware GSATA BiOS setting and do this striping in the software mode ? I wonder if Windows XP Home SP2 can do this ?

Forget the BIOS and let XP do it. I believe Home can but you have to convert the Disks to Dynamic first.

Apparently my XP Home SP2 cannot do the dynamic disk configuration. One needs XP Pro for that . Any other thoughts?

Crap, forgot about that, thought I was missing something. You are correct Dynamic is limited to Pro version. Sorry.
