    If you have low RAM on XP and you have been seeing slowdowns recently, it may be related to having Microsoft Updates being set as the default update source.

    It looks like the problem makes wuauclt.exe thrash the hard drive and consume a lot of CPU cycles. Switching your default update back to Windows Update seems to reduce the problem.

    Automatic updates are on so, I checked with Taskmanager and wuaudt.exe is not running. I have 2GB of RAM and 50% available with multiple programs running. I will check on this again when the system slows ... thank you!
