Xp Pro freezes in repair mode

Hi

I have searched the forums but did not find my solution. On my desktop computer I was receiving the error msg. system32\drivers\isapnp.sys. Using my XP Pro disk to do the "r", it freezes up about 2/3 of the way through. Is there any way to save this?

Freezing is likely if your XP disk is an earlier version than you now have. perhaps before SP2.

I recommend you go for installing a second copy of Windows without format in a new folder. Then copy your data somewhere safe. you can then either go for a clean reinstall (best) or use the new installation and delete the old one.
