OK, i've just installed Windows XP Pro on this machine w/ SP2 and all windows updates. I am also running spywareblaster, AVG Free Edition and Zone Alarm Pro. Is that enough protection for this machine?

    Cheers :)

I'm also running MS Antispyware beta one as well.

I know you are not going to like this answer, but the BEST protection of any computer, is this: Don't connect to the internet.

But, from what you posted, I perfer avast to AVG (due to the "offline" scanning). Zone Alarm is decent, though, the new version 6 has MANY problems, I prefer Sygate personal firewall.

That is just me, you'll have other answers from many other people.

The free AV's are supposed to be OK but I prefer Nod32 and use firefox instead of IE.

I also use firefox, looking forward to the official release of 1.5 of firefox. The beta testing works so far. Oh, the design it will have. Looking forward to it!

Might add that Winpatrol is a nifty little program to monitor startup, services and a few other things. There's a free or paid version but I will say the free version is damn good.A new release came out this week,I think.
