xp pro networking help.

    hello;

    I am trying to network two xp pro laptops. I have put them on the same workgroup. i can see them of both laptops but i cannot access either one form the other. i get a user logon box. Username: \\username\guest (which i cant edit)

    password: blank

    help ty.

    Make sure that 'Simple File Sharing' is enabled in the Folder Options under Control Panel. Also make sure that your Firewall Software allows you to be in the 'Trusted Zone'.

    hello,
    one method that I have found helpful is using a flash drive. If you have a USB flash drive or floppy(old school) insert in the main computer and run the windows network setup. It will ask you whe you are done if you have another computer to setup, you will say yes and okay and exit. Then you will start running the windows network setup on the other computer and wait till it prompts for the saved networking information, and insert it in the flash/floppy with the saved networking information from the other computer, following the instructions.
