XP Pro no .exe files work

    My computer crashed and then slowly came back to life. It started telling me that I didn't have enough memory to run Winows NT. I have 512MB. I just let it sit and run, several times I would restart it, each time it restarted more and more of my os would return to life. Now, it has returned my computer to me, but no .exe files will run. it asks me do I want to go to the internet to find a program to run these! Help, I have no executables!! i am running XP Pro. build 2600. Does anyone have any ideas?
