XP Pro SLOWWWWW

XP Pro SP3.....Very slow to initiate actyins. For example just right clocking an Icon on the Desktop to see when it was created takes 90 seconds before the first pop up window opens so I can select "Properties". Another example, starting IE8....the Home Page loads but it is about 2 minutes before I can do anything on th Page....even use the Address Drop Down box. It has never been like this before. I have rem Malwarebytes, Kaspersky and Windows Security and as far as I can tell it is clean. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Once you've done that and are waiting for a reply, check in Device Manager that the drive speeds are DMA 4 or higher, not PIO: http://www.winhlp.com/node/10
