    XP Pro SP3

I'm locked out of my C drive & D drive. I configured gpedit while my brother was living here so he couldn't access my c drive. Now gpedit won't respond and I'm locked out. When I access gpedit and try to open dialogue box to change the settings nothing happens. I've run kaspersky scan in safe mode and regular mode and it finds nothing. Malwarebytes won't start because i get the following error. "Run Time Error 372. failed to load control vbalGrid from vbalsgrid 6.ocx "

I have no system restore access either.

    PLEASE HELP

I downloaded file SubInACL but when I attempt to install I get message "Window installer service could not be accessed"

I can't copy & paste...I've lost control of my printer....I've lost my sound...It's a wonder I still have access to the internet

I'm logged on as administrator but have little control. I can open gpedit but when I try to undo the changes I made nothing happens. This all began when my brother was logged on as a guest but had little access except internet.

Could it be a virus? I'm getting worried

I followed the instructions and when I try installing the correct update to windows installer I receive the following error code:

"Set up could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer."

I checked which services in msconfig are running and Cryptographic service is stopped. All boxes next to all services are checked and all are enabled but under the status column many services are stopped.

I'm logged on as administrator but still have no control. I need to regain control as administrator somehow in order to regain control.

    Thanks to All

There's an old saying...."If you want something done right, do it yourself"

    I did...I'm done...running better than before!

Next time I'll save myself the trouble of registering, asking, waiting. Waste of time!

    Hi

    Sorry you feel that way.

At times it really depends on the information given on an issue and they the right person to be around that may know this issue, as no one tech will know all PC issues.

The other thing I will mention is from 2005 Majorgeeks has been offering FREE PC support to all that wish to ask a question, from the simple to the hard, we do all of this FREE support in our own spare free-time, so any answer may be quick or take a few days.

Forums have always been a place to share ideas and if you fix your own issue, to then post back how you did this as it may help someone else with the same issue, so what did you do to fix your issue?

David GP, At the very least someone could have asked me to clarify. I've seen others on this forum with the very same issue and at the very least they have gotten something to go on. I'm no Dummy and no whiz either, but the tweak was really rather simple after all. It just took me a week to discover it my self.

Good luck to everyone with the same issue!
