I have xp pro installed, I had a few problems installing it and I think this may be part of the problem., the first install was interrupted, so I shut down the install when it came to the activation part where you put in the COA etc. . I started a new clean install, but this time I had a newer version of XP Pro which had SP3 on it.on it and I installed it with no problems.
But now when I boot up I get a black screen with two options on it.

The top option s highlighted and it says "Microsoft XP Professional" and the option below reads the same, if I select the 1st highlighted option it boots up xp to the welcome screen with no problems. If however I select the second "Microsoft XP Professional" option it starts a re-install, or tries to.
How do I get rid of this start up screen.

Thanks in advance for any information proffered.

By doing two installations, the boot manager has created two entries into the boot.ini file - one the complete installation, and one the incomplete one.

You can use the MSCONFIG utility to delete the installation that you don't want. If you are unsure which one to delete, change the names slightly, then on the next Windows start note the correct one.

Let's see what your boot.ini looks like.

Boot from your XP CD, let it load up the files. Choose R for repair.
It ask for a password--enter your administrator password or if you didn't set one leave it blank and hit <enter>.
It should list your Windows installations. What choices does it give you in the list if more than one?
