hi folks. I need to reinstall xp as my computer has a serious virus. I have an external hdd that i want to store my music and important files. I have 2 problems though. 1. I cant logon to windows as i inadvertently deleted a system folder that i was told would eliminate the virus. (not by this website!) and use the repair folder. 2. I have no xp install disc as pc came preinstalled. Its an ibm thinkcentre a51, any ideas how i could install xp and also transfer files to hdd?

You could borrow a xp disc, it needs to be the same xp [with the right sp1-2] or your numbers wont match up to activate. ed

i have sp 3 installed currently but id be reinstalling windows anyway. Dont know anyone with a disc either. Why do computers come from the factory with no windows disc or serial number. Doesnt make sense.
