awesome sight! glad i found it.

got a problem that i can't seem to figure out. whenever i go to basic msn pages.. like groups, or whenever an add is being opened up on a side add for hotmail, the add doesn't load, but a windows xp add for.. well, this is the first part after the windows xp professional logo:

Your Web service is now running.
You do not currently have a default Web page established for your users. Any users attempting to connect to your Web site from another machine are currently receiving an Under Construction page. Your Web server lists the following files as possible default Web pages: default.htm,default.asp,index.htm,iisstart.asp,default.aspx. Currently, only iisstart.asp exists.

To add documents to your default Web site, save files in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\.

what is this? every time i go to these pages, that blocks the page and this page opens :
    http://localhost/iishelp/

no idea.. tried searchin for things all over, and no luck..

one more thing, i've got a file on my computer that i can't delete no matter. tried runnin in safe mode, but it says it's bein used by another program.. i've terminated a large variety of programs, and it still says it is being used.. ... it's a winamp file of blazing saddles..

any help on these matters would be amazing,
    thanks

For deleting the random locked file, the best best is to boot into safe mode and delete it.

That's kind of an odd warning to get. The warning message is because you have a Web server installed on your machine. Specifically, IIS, which comes with Windows XP. http://localhost/ is *your* machine. It's a loopback domain name.

If you don't need a web server (and most people don't) you can disable the service. Right-click My Computer and choose Manage. Computer Management will run. Expand Services and Applications in the tree (left pane), and then select Services. Shoot... I forgot the name WinXP calls the Web Server. There should be IIS Admin, but that's just the administration service for the server, not the actual server itself.

Anyhow, you simply right-click the service, and select Properties. Click the Stop button to stop the service from running right now, and then change the Startup type to stop the service from running when you boot later. Disabled = never run, Manual = run when demanded, Automatic = always run. You should be able to disable it.

Sorry I can't be more help with the Web Server... I'm away from home and don't have all my links and resources.
