xp professional booting problem

hi guys
got a big problem here out of the blue, booting my system always take me to the advanced option menu and it asks me hwo do i want to start my system and even if i say start normally it does without scaning my system, if i reboot it it will always do the same.help plz

 

Do you dual boot?

 

Check your boot.ini file. It should look like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

I think you may have one of the 'switches' listed in this link in your boot.ini file: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239780/en-us
Anyway, your boot file should look EXACTLY like the text above for a single boot XP Pro installation with a single partition (drive C: ).

i checked my boot.ini file and it looks exactly like it should be no apparent switches...hummmm, now what?????????

 

Honestly, I'm not sure what to do next :confused I'll do some poking around and see what I can find for you. If I find anything useful, I'll be sure to post it. In the meantime, hopefully someone will come along with more info for you.....
