I have a question about Reformatting/Reinstalling XP. Do I need to turn on "OS Install Mode" in the bios menu before starting the Reformat/Reinstall procedure,(it is turned off by default) or does it really make any difference ? It seems that the obvious answer would be "yes" since I would in fact be "Reinstalling the OS", but of all the articles and threads I've read online, nothing about this is mentioned. Thanks in advance.

I've never seen or heard of that particular BIOS setting. Check your motherboard manual, or visit the manufacturer's web site for more info or a manual to download. I would say that it should be set for Enabled just out of common sense.... but that's just my opinion ;)
