XP registar question help Can I use oem version ?

Hello
I have a older updated xp home retail version that i installed on a new hard drive about 45 days ago . Of cource it keep bugging me about registaring .
I still have it installed on the old drive that I seldom use ,,as a back up system ..that working fine and was registared ..
I called micro soft and Of cource they said I can't install .. Once per .....
Anyway ,,, on the new install I just waited to the last day or two and it quit poping up to registar and was working till a few days ago Now i getting a message when I start up windows about a win 32 problem related to registaring again ,,,and now the pop up back ...

Makes me think about a new op system other than microsoft !!!
They should a least give us a few installs ..

Two questions .What happens if i don't registar \? Lock up my system ?
.I have bought a oem licence #.. and can I use it for the home version ?
To save a complete reinstall
I have a oem copy also .
I just was hoping not to go thru the 5 or 7 hours of set up time again ! All those programes ,updates,
drivers and well you know !

Your XP can only be used and installed on one machine period.

 

If I read this correctly, he isn't installing to any other machines except one.

Sorta. You won't be able to log in if you don't activate.

Only if the Home CD is of the correct version and is also OEM.

To clear up confusion:

You can activate unlimited times on the SAME computer. Its not a one time activation per computer.

It wouldn't take it with the wizard !
