XP Registry Problems

    ...I type in either regedit or regedit.exe....the registry pops up, stays maybe 2 seconds and closes....it won't stay open....Anyone ever had this problem

    Thank you Adreylyn for your help...did get to the registry in safe mode....did what I had to do.....

    but original problem is still there...I have Trend on the computer already does not show a virus....

    I notice alot of registry cleaning "tools" out there.....which is the best....Free?...resaonable price?....just ..good....???

    Its not a registry problem, its a virus/worm.

    Think about it.

    Regedit is a fancy text editor.

    It doesn't work in normal mode

    It does in safe mode, hinting at 3rd party software interfereing.

    Registry problems (which it is not), exist in every mode of Windows.

    If a virus can disable your regedit, believe me, it has already compromised your installed antivirus, which means, it doesn't matter if you have it installed.

    Hence the reason I mentioned the online scanner.

    There are plenty of other virus tools out there, that was just one.
