XP Service Pack 3 anyone?

Are there a lot of folks in here using SP3 yet? I got an auto update request this morning and am wondering if it's been out long enough to be properly user debugged.

 

I am using it, without any problems, so far.

 

install SP3 from day1,so far no problems.You should use windows update.

 

+1 for SP3 - and if you got it on Auto update it should be fine. D/loaded and using it, from day one, when it was not on Auto - Cheers...

 

Is you computer running fine, if yes you can wait......

I am still on SP2 i will wait a few months before installing SP3...Just to be shure....

I have XP SP 2, should I upgrade to SP3? I'm never sure what to do with these new programs, and considering this will affect my entire operating system, I want to make sure its safe & necessary. thanks~:major

 

Make sure your drivers are updated.

I just repaired a laptop, and put XP Pro SP2 on the new hard disk. Installed SP3 without issue.

 

I installed service pack 3 and actually forgot I was runing service pack 3. In other words, I've seen no difference so it wouldn't hurt to install it.

 

It seems that when SP3 first came out, a few folks had some issues but I personally think they had some underlying issues that the install of SP3 brought to the surface. Now that SP3 is out and running happily on many PCs, I'd say it's safe to install it. However, I'm with Clark Kent on this one; I still am running SP2 on my personal home PC, and will not install SP3 for a while yet. My PC is running perfectly with SP2 and I see no reason to install SP3 just yet, but if you want to, go ahead, it's just not a requirement at this time....

 

I had problems upgrading to SP3 on a machine that had been running SP2 for a long time with many apps. It gave the BSOD and I had to reinstall OS, etc. I was wondering if all/some/one of the apps caused the BSOD, etc. So on a recent build last month, I installed SP3 before I installed any other applications. No problem at all and the PC is running great.

I've decided that if I need to reformat/reinstall OS, etc any of my other machines. I'm going to make sure I install SP3 before any other apps.

 

I've been running sp3 for a couple of months and have had no problems,so far....
I have not seen any noticeable differences apart from an extra icon in the control panel for wireless routers/hardware.

 

I installed SP3 on 4 PCs from 4 makers ... all running fine.

I recommend you check your PC manufacture's website for issues and solutions, though. COMPAQ, for example, had to issue a patch for their power management utility, because SP3 caused some models to go into an infinite startup-shutdown loop.

Otherwise, don't worry. Pretty much everything in SP3 has already been released as an independent update. SP3 just rolls them back out as a single package (plus a few extras).

 

I cannot get sp3 to install in this laptop

-Presario 700 with 368K memory.

It is a dinosaur laptop and it overheats.
Any ideas how to force it?

 

I procrastinated B4 installing SP3...and it works fine ( actually fixed a few things that I was to lazy to do)..
