xp slowdown

xp pro has slowedown terribly! I have ran housecall and have avast running on computer, also ran spybot and adaware,a2. Hijackthis shows 2 explorer.exes running and cpu is pegged at 100%, shutdown no effect. In processes only shows 1 explorer.exe. Seems to effect IE and opening my computer folder the most. Unable to use links in IE and takes forever for IE to open. any ideas?

 

try defragging and run memtest available from MG downloads.

 

I run diskeeper and memtest did not show any problems, any other ideas?

 

You say you've ran Avast, can you try downloading and scanning with AVG free?
