XP-SP2 and ME 7 help?

Hi,

I'm trying to update my sister's somewhat dated computer using the steps described by chaslang to protect against malware but am stuck at the first step for this computer. She has an older version of ME and XP Home, SP1.

I can't seem to install the windows updater (because ME is so old?) and I know that the computer specifications will work with SP2 but I can't download this because ME is so old? She has Firefox but I can't seem to download it using that program.

Any suggestions you have about how to address this would be helpful.

My apologies - I made a mistake (I've been updating the protection on the computers for a couple of family members). She has internet explorer 6.0 and XP2 - SP1. Sorry for the confusion!

 

Try downloading xp sp2 from here:

Thank you for your help! Can I confirm that not all systems are XP-SP2 compatible and not all are internet explorer 7 compatible? That may be the problem. I may be trying to update something that is not possible on the computer.
