Hello. I'm trying to do a reformat/reinstall of xp home, but I have come across a slight dilemna. I have sp2 installed on my pc, yet the "Reinstallion CD" from my pc manufacturer (Dell) only has sp1. When I try to do the reinstall from inside windows, it won't let me do it, saying something to the effect that the installed version of Windows is newer than the version on the CD. There is an option to do the install anyway, but its greyed out.(arggh!) I have also tried booting from the Reinstallation CD (I set the boot sequence so it would boot to the CD first), but the Windows setup screen never comes up, it just goes straight to the Welcome screen. I think sp2 may be causing this also (I could be wrong) I then tried all the uninstall options for sp2 I could find online (1)by using Add/Remove programs, but sp2 is not even listed there. (2) by running c:\windows\NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninstall\spuninstall.exe, but it won't let me open it for some reason. (sp2 might as well stand for "spyware pack 2", sheesh.) Does anyone know of any other ways to uninstall xp sp2 ? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
