XP (SP3) failed to load and stuff up internet access - help pls

Hi, I tried to install some updates the other day for XP (SP3). It failed to load, and I got an error message "Access is denied" then I had to delete all uploaded files.

Now that I have done that, I can't get access to MS Outlook or Internet explorer, because the computer can't find my server. I have checked the info in Internet Options and all the addresses and info seems ok (checked against my daughters computer.

Any ideas what to do?

have you tried this---- fairly technical--does this sound like your problem?

Thanks Petaluma. I tried all the things suggested but there wasn't anything missing or wrong.

This is so friggen frustrating.

I'm lurking around the Microsoft website (on my daughters comp), so I'll see what I can find. Otherwise I'll have to take it to someone to fix I guess. That sucks. Microsoft sucks!

 

At start up I also get error messages in boxes with the Heading RUNDLL saying:
Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEB~1\bar\2.bin\MWSBAR.DLL

The specified module could not be found.

then in the next one:
RUNDLL

Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\2.bin\M3PLUGIN.DLL

The specified module could not be found.

Does anyone knows what that means?
