Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) is an update to Windows XP that addresses key feedback from our customers and is a cumulative update that includes all previously released updates for Windows XP, including security updates. Windows XP SP3 contains a small number of new updates and should not significantly change the Windows XP experience. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

More information for this update can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936929

I would recommend installing it as it contains security patches and operating system updates among much else.

Hello watchntv :wave I would also suggest installing SP3. I am using XP Pro and have SP3 and altho I don't notice any changes, the computer does. It is a good thing.. If you have Automatic Updates selected, it should pick it up... Are you on a hi-speed connection? If so, you should be able to download and install with no problem. It is good for your system ;)

It might not be broken but it could be a security risk. All those patches never installed.
I have one computer that is unpatched since the day it arrived home. But this computer has never been on the internet. I do not have it attached to the router and it does not share any files with other computers. The chance of it catching anything is extremely small. It has a printer and scanner attached and I use it strictly for scanning books or pictures and saving or printing out.

Eh, my computer was sort of sluggish after the update. What are your specs like?

Hey zDawg32, Mine wasn't at all, and I didn't even notice any difference. May have something to do with memory, or free space, but I haven't heard anyone have any problems with SP3. :confused

I still say to update to SP3, as his computer will thank him;)
