Xp Sp3

Just tried downloading SP3 on 2 PC's. It will not run. Any ideas please.

 

Not really, there many who (and me, too) are having problems with XP SP3. Where did you download from, what size, did you shutdown/disabled all security programs? Did you want to punch the monitor or MS?
There are plenty of threads regarding run/install problems. Hopefully MS will come up a solution.

i downloaded sp3 from mg's had no problems installing it where did you get it from and if it is in iso format you will have to burn it to a cd first

 

I also downloaded loaded from MG's and have had no issues.

 

Tried the MG download, will not work either, locks up part way. I'll give up for a while-see what MS do.

 

SP3 seems a bit schizophrenic. It works beautifully without issues from some folks, while others have nothing but problem after problem with it. :confused I remember when SP2 first came out and the issues some people had with it when it was still new. 2-3 months later, MS had worked out most of the problems. I suspect SP3 will be a similar experience. I started a thread about SP3 where I asked folks to report their experiences with it, good or bad or neutral. I remember people that had malware and other issues having troubles with sp2, perhaps its the same type of thing, and you should visit our malware forum.

 

OK, problem sorted. I unpluged from the net, dis-abled all my security & ran the program. Re-booted, re-set security, all OK. Thanks,

 

After reading about the possible problems that cold arise from security measures being in place during install, and knowing how wide a variety of such defenses are employed these days, I wondered if this might be the cause of the erratic difficulties that people have been experiencing
