XP Standby question

Is it possible to to remain downloading via p2p programs (kazaa etc) while in standby? Because I leave my computer on alot to download but my power bill is through the roof every month.

 

no, do you turn the monitor off? what all are you running hardware wise? I usually just have the monitor set to turn off after 30mins and save power that way.

I always turn off the monitor. I have 3 case fans, 9800pro, 2hdd's, 1 cd/rw and 1 dvd-rom.

 

well you could try a program that would shut down the computer at such a time that you expect a p2p to finish its project, so basically you think your download will finish in a 1/2hour or 4hours, and add some extra time in there incase it will take long than expected, then have the program shutdown the computer. This would save you then some time, maybe you could find a program that also waits until there is zero cpu activity or a delay after no activity and then shutdown (thus saving energy). Which i didn't do any searching for.

PS, i wouldn't recommend kazaa to anyone since its bloated with spyware and registry keys that junk (just my 2 cents)
