XP Start up /Reboot problem

HI
Anyone shed some light on my problem plz ?

over the last few days my pc has had problems starting and rebooting
It gets to the Xp screen with the moving blue bar then insted of moving onto
the welcome screen it just goes black .

What started the problem?

Is the problem on every boot or does it boot to Windows sometimes?

Have you updated any device drivers or installed any programs that required a reboot to finish the install?

The next time you turn it on hit the F8 button after the POST beep and before the Windows splash screen (with the moving blue bar) this should give you a list of boot options. From the list choose "Last Known Good" this should load the registry values from the last successful boot.

If that doesn't work you could try F8 and use system restore choosing a date prior to the problem starting.

If it was a software or device setting that was changed that caused the problem such as; setting the screen resolution to a value that is not supported by your video adaptor and/or monitor. Use the F8 boot options menu and choose safe mode and change the setting to a value that is supported by your hardware.

Let us know if those options work. If they don't we can go from there.

not sure if it's any of the things you suggested ( hav'nt tried yet tho )
This first happend around a week ago i have since formated and reinstalled
hoping this would resolve the issue

 

Does it happen in Safe Mode?

Almost sounds like a video driver problem.
