I have a Compaq Presario laptop with XP Media. When I startup, it gets to the Microsoft logo and does nothing. If I get into the recover screen, Last known good config does nothing or in SafeMode, it prints:

Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\ and lists at least 35 drivers.

I do have a second partition with XP Pro on it and tried to load the drivers into the folder for XP Media. No go.

I have no idea. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How long have you given Safe Mode to complete? Try giving it a while longer, say 10 minutes, and see if it goes any further. Post the last file on the list after giving it 10 minutes. It is normal for it to list the files it is loading so it is not missing those drivers it is just telling you it has loaded them.

Edit: do a chkdsk from your XP PRO system on the Media Center partition. (Right-click the Media Center drive letter in My Computer and select Properties. Then Tools tab and check disk for errors (mark both boxes) and OK.
