Earlier this morning (About 3 hours ago.), I was browsing the net, and then my computer suffered a BAD_POOL_CALLER BSOD without warning.

So I went through a couple of fix-it-yourself guides and they suggested Memtest86+ v4.0 to check the computer first, which, I would be doing if my disk drive was still working. (It stopped working a long time before this series of BSODs.) I get "drive not accessible." when I try clicking the CD icon.

It says the error occurs from an unsuccessful hardware change, except I haven't changed anything, most of them seem to be working fine, save that dead CD drive which hasn't caused any problems thus far, and a monitor that may have gotten banged a bit after a series of repeated power-cuts caused the monitor to now start up around 5 minutes after everything else has but caused no problems either.

The software seems to be running fine as well except for my AVG 8.5 which now shows a "license could not be verified" error, which was working fine up until the BSOD and now does not work anymore, I just downloaded AVG remover and will remove it if the uninstaller fails to work again (Registry key error 0x80070005.)

The computer in question is a Windows XP.

Power cuts will play havic with the hard drive, too- and other components.
    I would try the following
1-- click start, run, and type in chkdsk /r-retsrat and windows will check your file system for errors, and attempt to repair any found.
2- Insert your XP disc and hold down the shift button to stop it loading- if it loads, just cllick exit. Then -click start, then run, then type in sfc /scannow, and it will search for windows rotected files, and you will see a scrolling bar going across the screen, very slowly, and every so often another little window pops up, just click retry every time, until the first scrolling line box dissappears.
Then go to windows update, and be sure to have any updates necessary.
If you find your version of xp is no longer supported, come back, and someone should be around to help.

    1. - Typed in the command in safe-mode. Aside from the flash of a window, nothing happened, observations recorded after 10 minutes.

    2. Option 2 cannot be done because my disk drive doesn't work.

My XP is on auto-update, so I'm quite sure that it's updated to the most recent update.

My mother intends to send the computer to the repairmen in the afternoon, hopefully they can fix it, I'll pop back here if they can't. Thanks.

P.S.: Said series of power cuts occurred around the middle of last-month.
