    Hey all Happy New Year..

Just thought I would end '07 and start '08 with the Vista vs Xp war since vista has been out for about 1 year now...
This is more of a mix issue I would think between Hardware and Software sorry if I put it in the wrong one...

I like to play games a lot...
    Ut 3
    Crysis
    Cod4
    Nfsps
Basically any new game coming out..

    My specs are

    Asus M2n32-sli deluxe mobo
    AMD Athlon Am2 6000+ cpu
    Corsair Twinx DDR2 2 gig (2 x 1gig) Pc6400c Ram
WD 400gig Sata - (Which is my main hdd)
    Seagate 300gb Ide
    WD 80gb Ide
    Sony Sata dvd burner
    500watt PSU
    Albatron 6800gs pci-ex gpu (Getting an Asus 8800 Ultra 768meg ddr3)
I am thinking of maybe getting 2 8800 ultra 768meg cards but also upgrading my PSU to the Thermaltake Toughpower 1200w PSU to handle it all)

Would it be worth running the 2 in SLI or just getting the 1 card...
And would Vista or XP be better for playing games...

THX in advance - Have a Happy New Year

Ive not had any issues with Vista. Any games running slower have usually been (for me) either older games, or crappy drivers, in which, things are improving. Many performance and compatibility fixes have been released since that youtube...so imo the Vista then, is not the Vista now.

The future is moving towards Vista, so eventually you will end up there, if you are a gamer. You can wait, but realize that you will incur double the cost of OSes (buying XP now, and Vista later).

Might as well wait on the video card. Especially since (supposedly) the new models will be coming out soon.

    soon = 3+ months.

Vista 64 works fine for me. Which includes games like crysis and cod4 (only played demo on this one).

Friend has a q6600 quad and says Crysis works well enough on Vista but screams in XP x64, he dual boots just for that reason. Though that's not a viable option for regular folk as he got his Vista Ult DVD for free.

So would vista x64 run games better then the x32 or not??

Happy '08 to everyone (and glad to see '07 GONE!),
I'm a Vista Ultimate man myself! I built this computer in late July, early August and didn't have as much as a glitch up until four days ago...which is why I'm on here now....:cry! Anyway, I always laugh at the commercials and other people bashing Vista....runs as stable as my XP Pro did, and has alot more cool features! I LOVE Dreamscapes running on my background....just can't beat that for first impressions! Anyway, happy New Years to everyone, and be responsible! See you in '08!

No. 64 bit (for the most part) is not ready to take the world by storm. About the only justifiable reason for going 64 bit right now is support for ram (it can fully utilize 4+gb)
