I don't know all the details of this but I had a similar problem with my 4gig card for my Blackberry. It turned out that I need to get a USB card reader that was able to read "SD HC". Without the HC, it seems that there is some limit to the size of the card a standard reader will read.

    Hi

Just to clarify, the SD card was working in XP SP2 ok then you tried to update to SP3 and that caused it to not work so you then went back to SP2, or was it not working in SP2 and you tried to fix it with SP3 install?

No matter what way you tried, do you have any yellow ! marks in Device Manager, if so what?

I would be inclined to re-install the Chipset Driver for your PC/motherboard and then see if that fixes it (if you need help with finding the PC make and model then follow the very bottom quoted text and we can assist), after installing the correct Chipset driver, reboot *important to reboot to correctly install the driver*

In Disk Management does the SD card list as a drive? if so right click it and choose Change Drive Letter and pick somrthing like X, Y or Z and then see if it lists in My Computer.
