AMD 1.4 gig Athlon, 512 Mb RAM

    Windows XP Pro (no SR's)

As soon as the BIOS boot finishes, the computer flashes a blue screen and reboots. Trying safe mode, same thing happens. Tried last known good configuration. Same thing.

Decided to reinstall XP. Inserted disk. Same thing happened. Went into BIOS, was set to boot from CDROM. Changed all boot possibilities to boot from CDROM, exited, and on restart the system ignored the CDROM, went to Windows startup choices. Selected NORMAL mode, got a blue screen and it rebooted.

Went into BIOS, disabled start from other device. On boot, I got a screen that ended with Do you want to boot from CDROM? System hung and would accept no entry.

    Any suggestions?

Usually the blue screen indicates hardware failure or some type of system software problems. When did this first occur and have you replaced or added any new hardware and/or software?

This happened suddenly. System crashed, and then decided not to start.

I built this PC for my son a few years ago. I believe that the MB is an AOpen, but I'm not sure which one.

    Ok, First lets try this:

    1) Go into the BIOS and set it to boot from CD-ROM

    2) Boot from CD-ROM, start WindowsXP Install, When the first screen comes up, press "R" to boot into the Recovery Console.

    3) Type the # for the installation your doing the repair on usually its "1". Type in the Administrator password and wait for C:\WINDOWS to appear.

    4) After this comes up type in: chkdsk /r

NOTE: This may take a while depending on the problems. This may work this may not work. Its the first thing we will try. If you have any problems with this please let me know. Thanks!
