xp wrong operating system installed

help please
my lap top went very wrong so i took it to a shop and asked them to re install xp home sp1 as i have the licence for this on the reverse of the comp
BUT they have installed xp pro and a pony copy at that . so my licence is incorrect for the operating system .
they dont have xp home to put on it.
is there a place that i can download xp home sp1 from as i cant get any updates for the comp

Take it back to the shop, and get what you asked for!

 

tried that but they tell me that that is all they have and will give my money back once they have removed the system they installed
the prob is that i am in tenerife at the mo and i think they all run copy programs here
any other ideas please

 

Tell em to remove it and get your money back, then purchase a copy of XP Home SP2 (even 3 i think) for next to nicks!

Check the local stores (other than that one) for pricing......its cheap!

Can't download it, but since the local shop installed an illegal copy of xp on your computer, you can always resort to turning them into Microsoft. This may be mean, but those gal/guys at that shop shouldn't have done, what ye didn't want them to do.

XP sp3 won't be out till '08.

 

I can't believe a PC shop would install a bootlegged XP Pro when you have the key for a legit XP Home... sounds like a second rate operation, shady too. What kind of PC shop doesn't have XP Home?!?!?! First, demand your money back!!!! Second, never visit the shop again and tell your friends and neighbors to never visit the shop. Third, use your refunded money to buy a new, GENUINE copy of Windows. I believe you can legally buy XP CD's on EBay that are sold w/o product keys. You have the sticker so you should be OK....
