XP's Adiministrators name

Here's a quicky Geeks. Am setting up a netgear Router and need to port forward. To be able to access this I first must complete security quest. No 1 is 'Name' and 2 is 'Password'. Have the pass and thats not a prob but the issue is with the name ,, What name ??/ as If i remember correctly when installing I was asked for a computer name and a Admin password .. so what the heck 'Name' is required.. i know pass is correct as i went to admin in safe mode and accessed succesfully ..

 

Netgear has been no help so am appealing again, What also is confusing me is that i have booted in safe mode via administrator pass and when I am trying to access the netgear site (port forwarding) I am again being asked for admin name and pass ?? Looking around computer in ''User Rights Assingment'' I can see no admin name, or in Security Settings/Password Policies, anyone had this prob before and can enlighten me before I go completely bald...

 

Do you mean that you are being asked for a username and password to gain access to the router from the web interface? If that is so then it will be the same ones that you used when you first set up the router. You will have those in the user manual.

 

A..ha !! thanks scousetechie, I have not be asked on instalation and setting up of Router, so no name and password, so, I will have to go back to square 1 and reset netgear back to factory settings and start again. Strange as both coms can access the net no prob, but just need to port forward for other activities..
