I would like to change one or two system sounds for new ones but I can't find the file in which they are stored.

    Does anyone know?

I'm not sure exactly where the sounds are stored on your computer. However you can learn how to change the sounds on your PC running Windows XP: Click Here

Usually these files are stored in directory C:\Windows\Media
Although you should act on COMPUABLEs suggestion.

    Thank you both .

Yes I had discovered the Media file in WINDOWS.

It's a new sound file I wanted to add, which I have now done. The default selection didn't meet my requirements.

It's an alert for new mail in MailWasher Pro. The default is too short. I wanted also to put it in the system's sound (WINDOWS/Media) file so that it will be accessible as a replacement for other things.
