Yah! I upgraded my cpu & mobo

Wow it's been a few years since I some what built a new PC. I screwed myself a little a couple months ago buy purchasing a AGP video card. At the time I just wanted something that would handle my games as my 9800Pro was taking a beating on games such as Ghost Recon 3, FEAR, Oblivion and a couple others. I didn't want to spend all the money to upgrade my cpu and mobo just so I could buy a PCI Express video card. Well I soon found that my current CPU is really a big bottle neck now and it's holding my video card back. going with AGP really limits me now as I don't want to buy another video card. My BFG 7800GS OC 256mb card should last me awhile.

Sooo I opted to buy the ASrock 939Dual Sata-2 mobo (agp 8x, PCI Express 16x, and pci express 1x). I doubt I'll use this but it also has a feature for adding an expansion board for AM2 and DDR2 support.

I then picked up a AMD64 4000+ San Diego to pop in it. 2.4GHz and 1mb of cache! I decided not to go with dual core at this time. I mainly game and from all the articles and reviews I've read, single core chips are still the choice for gamers. Once software and games are designed with dual core chips in mind this will all change but till then I should be quite happy. Plus I can always upgrade to a dual core AM2 down the road via expansion board or new mobo. I'm thinking I wont have to in any case considering my 2500+ Barton has lasted me a couple years or more. (forget when I bought it).

Now I just need to find a new case.
