Yesterday, my Yahoo page changed and I don't know if I clicked something to cause this.

Besides the background changing from default, I'm now seeing ads on top and I had to remove multiple spam e-mails from the main body.

I did a System Restore and nothing changed, so maybe this is the new way that Yahoo is discouraging use of their e-mail?

If using Firefox and/or Pale Moon browser then this extension gets rid of Yahoo's webmail ads. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/yahoomailhideadpanel/ Not sure if Adblock Plus extension gets rid of these ads as well.

I don't know what to suggest if using IE. Try perhaps Adblock Plus for IE?

PS: I don't get any Yahoo ads in IE, Fx and PM and don't use above extension.

Those ads started appearing about 2 months ago for me. AdBlockPlus killed them.
Now in that strip is a message about Yahoo turning off Do Not Track me.

I've also started receiving spam, probably sent by Yahoo, in my inbox. I simply delete them all without opening and empty the trash.

Yahoo Mail has deteriorated so much since October 2013.

The image you posted shows no ads. I presume you mean ads appearing somewhere other than an email message. For the sake of clear communication here, let's define ads in that manner. An unwanted email, then, is spam, although it might be advertising in nature. So, where are the "ads"? Your image shows an email from LowerMyBills, not an ad.

Why did you do a System Restore? I can't see a point in doing that for webmail.

Like oma, I get no ads when viewing Yahoo Mail via IE.

Edit: I did not see plodr's post before I posted.

2nd edit: Well, I was wrong in saying I see no ads in IE. I do see an ad in the space to the right of the list of email messages.

    I never use IE11, so that's not a problem.

    Thanks again.:-D
