Did you follow the instructions there and create a POP email account in Outlook Express for your Yahoo mail?

Outlook express is your email program ...you have to set it to download you mail from Yahoo by setting up the account. Open Outlook and go to tools / accounts.

    Extra info....

    1. Click "Tools," and select "Accounts."
    2. Click the "Mail" tab, and choose "Properties."
    3. On the "Servers" tab, ensure that you have not checked "Log on Using Secure Password Authentication" in the Incoming Mail Server section or "My Server Requires Authentication" in the Outgoing Mail Server area.
    4. Check that "POP3" is listed in the Incoming Mail Server field.
    5. On the "Advanced" tab, ensure that you have not selected "This Server Requires a Secure Connection (SSL)" under the Incoming (POP3) or Outgoing (SMTP) Port settings.

That is what I did,but let me re-phrase the problem.Used to when I wanted to send a link, yahoo would take me yahoo sign in,now it takes me to Outlook Express. Also,Firefox is my default browser, but when I want to send a link,IE pops up.

You're just not getting this, are you? You said you created an account in Outlook Express for your Yahoo mail. This means you now use Outlook Express for your Yahoo mail. So, why do you persist is saying/thinking you should be taken to yahoo sign in rather than Outlook Express? You're not making any sense, here.

If you go to Tools, Internet Options, and Programs, in IE, is IE set a default?

No,you don't get it!At one time it would take me straight to yahoo sign in,but something seems to have changed and now it takes me to outlook express.I just want to know why.
I checked and IE isn't my default browser.

OMG, I don't believe this. You were given a link to a page with instructions on setting up an account in OE for your Yahoo mail. And, you said you did that.

Now, answer this question. What do you think was the purpose of creating an account in OE for your Yahoo mail?

Try this just to be sure.

Open Internet Explorer, Select Tools > Internet Options > Go to the Programs tab. Make sure Yahoo! Mail is selected under E-mail. Click OK.

    OR

From the Start menu select Settings > Control Panel.
In the Control Panel, select Internet Options. This opens the “Internet Properties” window.
Click the Programs tab along the top.
Click the E-mail pull-down menu, and select Yahoo! Mail

See if that gives you the results your looking for.

This is an inappropriate response and reflects poorly on us.

Sorry about that but it's been a frustrating case.

There was no point in him creating an account in OE for Yahoo Mail if he simply does not want to use OE. But yet, he never said, after all this discussion, that he does not want to use OE.

I think you might be trying to say that when you are using Yahoo Messenger and want to send a link, it used to be that you were taken to the Yahoo sign-in page but now you are taken to Outlook Express instead - is that correct? (I'm an MSN person so I'm partly guessing here.) If not, try again and be REALLY careful not to use the word 'it' when you can use a name of something. One thing I've learnt is that people so often get confused by the word it being used and they mistakenly assume 'it' refers to something other than the speaker means. Silly example but it makes clear what I mean:

Person 1: "The bin lid is stuck and I can't throw the rubbish out."
    Person 2: "Where is it?"
Person 1: "Outside the back door," and thinks, "of course!"
Person 2 looks and sees no sign of the rubbish bag they were asking for while person 1 ponders why person 2 is asking where the bin is. Person 2 asks more specifically, gets the correct answer and ponders on why anyone would think they were asking where the bin is. (This sort of thing happens between my hubby and I ALL the time! I'm not sure if it's because we belong to opposite sexes. :D )

Something else to throw into the suggestions box for a more knowledgable person to follow up, is it possible that the File Type associations have anything to do with IE opening?
