Yahoo Messenger

I have tried to download YM several times.It goes thru all 6 steps successfully but I can't get it to work.Have searched,thru windows search, for messenger files and it doesn't find any.

If I go to C drive and click on the folder for Yahoo there is a file/folder for messenger there.I don't know if I have to manually install some files or not,and if so what files?
If I go to add/remove programs there is no YM listed.

I am on a Dell Inspiron 6000 running XP home svp2
Clock speed is 1.3 Ghz, Intel celeron
HD memory is 35.9 Gb with 25.95 free.

Does it matter what browser I use for downloads? I have both IE6 and Firefox ver. 1.5.0.3.

Suggest you try Trillian instead.

It allows you to chat in various messenger programs like Yahoo, Msn, etc.
One program fits all. I use it with IE6. Bazza

I just downloaded Trillian,no problems,so far.
There is an icon on my desktop for Trillion.
Have searched thru win search and 3 items come up.
Now for the dumb question. How do I get it to work?
As usual it is probably something simple.

BillB. There should be an icon down where the time appears, bottom right of your screen. Double click on that, and a menu should appear. Click on Trillian tab first and work your way through the dropdown tab. Next select View and work through those, etc.

To be truthful, I've forgotten how to get it working, it's been a long while, but I managed somehow, by trial and error I guess. Sorry, but unless I was to uninstall and reinstall, I am unable to remember. Bazza

I don't see any new icons down by the clock.
The only new icon is on the desktop. It is Trillion v3.1

If I double click on it I get a window with the license agreement.
I clicked agree and another window open called Trillion installer.

It gives the location of the Trillion files as 'C:\programs\trillion'.

That seems correct.The options available are,Add to desktop, add to start menu,and,add uninstall info to the registry.

Click on go and another window opens very briefly and I cant quite make out what it says.

From memory, and I'm rusty, Trillian requires another program to be installed as well.

Thanks for the link,I went there and downloaded successfully.
This time the download took longer and went farther afterwords.

As I said a successful load.

It works fine.

You were right QuickTime was needed,downloaded at same time.

I have downloaded Yahoo Messenger several times and went Ok.
I signed in and open a persons dialog window while they are online but unable to have a conversation with them.
I am able to type and send but does not show above in conversation window and can not see what they are saying... Just briefly in the bottom pop up in the right corner.
Been using Yahoo Messenger for years with no problems till now.
Please help !!!!
