Yahoo search opens download box

    I have xp and use firefox 3.6.16 with yahoo. When I do a yahoo search and click on a link, a box opens (same as when your downloading some thing), and asks what firefox should do. This just started a couple of days ago and only happens with firefox and yahoo. Google works fine and so does IE with yahoo and google. I have uninstalled firefox, and then reinstalled it. Ran cccleaner, super anti spyware, and malwarebytes. Any ideas?

    What Windows and Service Pack are you using? helps at times to know if instructions are needed for file and folder locations and steps to various fixes.

    Have you tried the latest Firefox as in Firefox 4.0 HERE?

    Start Firefox in its Safe Mode, found in the Firefox folder in the All Programs/programs list or hold Shift key down then click the Firefox icon.

    What you may have is a Yahoo toolbar addon in Firefox so try this and in Firefox click Tools > Add-Ons and remove any Yahoo! plugins, restart Firefox. (also uninstall any Yahoo Toolbar from Add/Remove in Control Panel)
