I heard Yahoo plans on axing their instant messenger on August 5th, which has practically been around since the beginning of the internet and is still preferred by many to communicate on, myself included. All I can say is this sucks! If it ain't broke don't fix it. I know you can tell me to switch to some other instant messenger after Yahoo recreates theirs, problem is I've tried all the others and Yahoo's original is still the best. The others are bland and boring compared to Yahoo.

Take note of a MG's article being posted tomorrow on how Verizon is buying Yahoo.

I did notice that Verizon is buying Yahoo for 4.8 billion after I posted this thread. The problem is the Cybercaust is still coming. Destroying Yahoo Instant Messenger is destroying a critical part of the internet's past. Some will say it's all in the name of progress, none the less I don't see anybody destroying the ancient pyramids, Roman Coliseum, Stonehenge etc.

It seems that irrespective of the Yahoo takeover, the plans are already in place to withdraw the desktop application for YM, and in future it will only be available as a smart phone/tablet app or via a web browser 'online' It wont stop anybody using YM as such, just not as a desktop program.

Well Mr. Turner in my case Yahoo is losing is losing business by abandoning the desktop application for their instant messenger. The desktop application more than fits my needs versus the smart phone app which I already have on my smart phone and am unhappy with compared to the desktop app. Until they can make annoying, irritating, dumb ass, smart phones more user friendly, desktop instant messengers will be my preference. Thus this is just one more case of why Yahoo is struggling and continues to fail. Hopefully Verizon will pull Yahoo's head out of its ass ASAP!

Unfortunately, Verizon has said it will concentrate on smart phone apps for Yahoo.

I can't say I'm worried about Verizon tracking my worthless albeit tight digital ass all over the place. Might as well just stand in line with a million others pulling the same gif! I don't care!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just don't want those freaks to take my YAHOO INSTANT MESSENGER off of my PC's freaking desktop! All you're doing is giving everybody less access to it, by making that move! Which is guaranteed to mean less traffic, less business and the whole freaking 9 yards! It's that effing simple!

I'll give Trillian a shot, I'll give anything a shot. In the meantime I mailed this to Yahoo:

Don't even waste my time telling me how I can still use your app on my smart phone or tablet! I don't care! Axing the desktop app on my PC and others only serves to give everybody less access to Yahoo Instant Messenger. What good is that going to do you?
I just can't believe after all these years you're axing it. It's been around practically since day one of the internet. The reason I mention that is deleting this program that was built upon the backbones of the internet is practically the equivalent of tearing down the Egyptian Pyramids or Stonehenge! Jesus F Christ! Is nothing sacred any effing more!!!!? https://s.yimg.com/ok/u/assets/img/emoticons/emo13.gif
