I have 2 old Windows 98 computers (A Gateway and Compaq) that I received a few months ago. I played with them a bit, cleaned them up and put them in a box. :cool

I got the Gateway back out today, hooked everything up, and pressed the power button. The keyboard flashed once, and the power light remained yellow. No display, fans, beeps, nothing. Okay, something must be wrong with the power supply. Its original went out with a bang and the one in it was probably on its last legs.

So I get the other one out and hook it all up, press power button, and the power light remains yellow. Again no fans, sounds, nothing but the keyboard flashing once. :confused

What does a constant yellow power light mean?

Have you tried disconnecting all connections and reinserting to ensure a good contact?
Possibly also the CMOS battery is dead. Cheap and easy to replace.

I tore apart the Compaq and put it back together. It works now.
You may be right about the battery on the Gateway, I remember it always said that it was low. Thanks.
